Our comprehensive package for fine art transport

    Crane transport

We safely transport large-scale sculptures and installations to their final locations using crane lifts with millimetre precision – in close consultation with artists, curators and museums right from the planning stage.

    Fine art storage

A specialised, climate-controlled art storage facility for paintings, sculptures and antiques – protected from dust, damp and vibrations until the next exhibition or dispatch.

    That’s what makes us
    special

    Our own crane lorry

    One-stop crane transport services

Using our own crane lorry, we position large-scale sculptures and installations at their final location with millimetre precision – without the need for an external crane company and with no coordination required. This allows us to retain full control over every stage of the handling process, from loading to placement at the destination, and guarantees you on-time delivery from a single source.

    Close cooperation

    With artists and curators

We often discuss with artists or curators in person, right from the early stages of a work’s creation, how best to transport a piece. Large installations or sculptures, in particular, must be prepared in a way that is suitable for the journey.

    Industry confidence

    Museums, galleries, art fairs

Our clients include artists, museums, galleries, art fairs and archives throughout Germany and Europe. For us, discretion and data protection are just as much a matter of course as the highest standards of security.

    Quality you can rely on

Niesen is certified to DIN ISO 9001 and 14001. Following rigorous auditing by TÜV Rheinland, these certificates attest to our company’s holistic quality management system and comprehensive environmental commitment. We also operate our logistics operations in a way that contributes to climate action.

      FAQ

What kind of artworks does Niesen transport?

Niesen transports sculptures, paintings, installations and antiques of all sizes – from delicate, one-off pieces to large-scale sculptures, which are delivered to their final destination using our own crane lorry. The dismantling and reassembly of complex installations is also part of our standard range of services.

How are the artworks protected from damage during transport?

We manufacture bespoke art transport cases that are climatically and mechanically secure, providing reliable protection for valuable artworks against dust, moisture and vibrations. Each case is custom-made to fit the specific artwork, ensuring that even particularly delicate or large-scale objects reach their destination undamaged.

Does Niesen also handle customs and import formalities?

Yes, on request, we take care of all the formalities relating to the relevant customs and import regulations to ensure that international fine art transport runs smoothly. This means that artists, galleries and museums do not have to deal with complex bureaucratic procedures themselves and can rest assured that their works will arrive safely.

Does Niesen also offer a sculpture installation service?

Yes, in addition to transport and crane transport, we also undertake the professional positioning and installation of large-scale sculptures and installations directly at the desired location. Using our own crane lorry, we can reach even hard-to-access installation sites with millimetre precision and without the need for an external crane company.

Who does Niesen work for in the field of fine art transport?

Our clients include artists, museums, galleries, art fairs and archives throughout Germany and Europe – and we always ensure the utmost discretion and data protection. We are often involved right from the early stages of a work’s creation, working alongside artists and curators to plan the best possible transport route.

Can Niesen also provide temporary storage for works of art?

Yes, our specialist art storage facility offers carefully controlled climate conditions for paintings, sculptures and antiques – ideal for the period between two exhibitions or whilst you are moving house. This ensures that your works remain safe and properly protected, even over longer periods, until they are transported to their next destination.
